A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas
The first time I read this book my exact thoughts were:
I enjoyed it. It was a fun read, but it just lacked the usual Bam feeling I get when reading Sarah’s books. I really liked Feyre. She was stubborn, but likeable. Tamlin and Feyre had good chemistry, but compared to the other characters, I found Tamlin to be pretty boring. They were definitely a hot couple. This book was HOT. My favorite character was Rhysand. He is not even her love interest but I ship it (for some weird reason). He was a jerk, but in the end, we really get to see another side of him. He was by far the most interesting character. I’m definitely going to read the sequel, because I have a lot of faith in Sarah. Her books get better as they go.
Damn, that’s the first time I’ve quoted myself. Does WordPress have a badge for that? haha.
Anyways, I didn’t love the book, but then I read A Court Of Mist and Fury and It blew my brains out. It was amazing or whatever comes after that! I was so obsessed that I went back to read Acotar. This time, my focus wasn’t really in Feyre and Tamlin’s relationship, if you know what I mean. The second time around, I was really able to appreciate the book. I dissected every little detail of my favorite character, Rhysand. My rating of the book definitely went up. This series is one of my all top favorites and definitely my top Beauty and the Beast retelling
Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer is technically a red riding hood retelling but it can be considered a beauty and the beast retelling as well. This was probably my favorite in the Lunar Chronicles series. I loved Scarlet and Wolf. Their interactions were so cute. This entire Series is a must read for anyone who loves fairy tales.
My next favorite beauty and the beast retelling is probably Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay. It’s been a while but I remember that I really enjoyed it. It was a very magical story with awesome characters. I like the themes it had about looking past appearances. It was a quick, fun standalone.
Bonus: Least Favorite
I gave this book away because I had no interest in ever reading it again. It has been a long time, but I remember how much it angered me. I couldn’t stand the main character. I never got the feeling that he actually redeemed himself. Now that I think about it, I really should reread it to see how I feel about it now.
Do you guys have a favorite Beauty and the Beast retelling?
I really liked Beastly when I read it years ago as well as Beauty by Robin McKinley! 😉

ACOTAR is my favorite beauty and the beas retelling to. My second favorite is cruel beauty by Rosamund Hodge, although it has been so long since I read it that I’m not sure it still belongs there.
